Photo frames; apart from their aesthetic use they can catch the eye of the viewer making your photos stand out from competition.
In this handy tutorial you will learn how to easily add a photo line frame.

So here we go:

First open you photo and save it as standard layer. You do this by simply doubleclicking on the photo’s layer and transform it on standard layer through the dialogue window.

Next in order to add a border we will need more space around the photo. To do this we will increase the canvas size through Image->Canvas Size which will bring forward the canvas dialogue window. The easier way to add more space around the image is by ticking the button “Relative” and lets increase the size by 100x100. This means that 50 additional pixels will be added on either sides on vertically and horizontally of your photo.

Once you hit Enter this will add the border as described above, but in transparent mode. To fill it in with solid color create a separate layer for the border and hit Ctrl+Backspace. This will fill it in with the color preselected on your color selection area, in this case White since the default mode is black and white.

Now you are ready to start editing your frame. Hit Ctrl+click on the photo layer, this will choose the entire size of your photo. Once done create a new layer (you should have 3 layers by now all in all) .
Next click Edit->Stroke and this will bring up a new dialogue window which essentially will allow us to add a line round the photo.
On that window you can adjust 3 elements. The desired color of your framing line, its width and its position in relation to your photo.
We will go for a standard red, a width of 10pixels and Center it in relation to the margin of our photo, feel free to play around with these options.

And this is your result until now, which looks okay-ish but there is definitely room for improvement.

So will now repeat the last 2 steps. Go ahead and create a new layer and choose again your main photo layer by Click+Ctrl.
Then again Edit->Stroke but this time choose a different color we will go for black and this will add a black line frame over the existing red one.

Next add a Layer Mask on the black line frame by simply selecting the black line frame layer and clicking on the layer mask icon on the bottom of your layers window.

Now click on the Gradient Tool and by holding down Shift Click+Drag from the top of your picture to the bottom.

This will make your line frame progressively from red to black creating a nice effect round your photo.

We are not yet done though, to make our frame more punchy we can add a layer style on the red part of the line frame. So ensuring you have selected the red line frame layer click on Layer Style button and add a Drop Shadow effect.

On the dialogue window choose the direction of your shadow, we will go for a 140 degrees and lower the opacity (round 30 should be ok) so its a soft shadow.

Hit ok and now you have a classy and yet simple looking frame round your photo.

Experiment with different colors and shadows and make your photos really stand out!

We have shown how to make someone look thin, but what if the problem is not calling for such drastic measures but rather for some gentle body re-sculpting? Thats what you will learn through this tutorial; how to reshape a body figure. This technique creates a more subtle effect, which may be a better idea for your public photos. You can do this either with the smudge tool or the liquify tools, we prefer the liquify tool because the smudge tool takes away some of the quality of the original picture.

Our model in this case doesnt really need a liposuction but we will operate on her anyway for the shake of this tutorial.

Once you open your image on photoshop reach for your Liquify filter. You will find this under the Filter menu->Liquify.

Pick the Forward Warp Tool, thats the little hand tool on the top left.

Next we identify the area we want to reshape and gently click and push inwards. In the image below we are re-shaping the waste. This process requires stable hand and a bit of artistic touch. If you overdo it and the figure looks fake just hit ctrl+z and retry.

Repeat on the other side of the waste so it looks symmetric.

Next we will augment the model’s buttocks. We will use again the Warp Tool but a different technique. Instead of pushing from outside the body inwards we will click and drag from inside the body outwards. Its a really handy tool and it contributes hugely to this being a quick edit.

Click and drag, click and drag, slow moves till your get the desired result, dont be afraid to experiment.

Next we will augment the model’s breasts. Reach for the Bloat tool.

With gentle strokes, click and drag around the breast area, do this from the centre to get a more natural result.

Repeat on the other breast and you are done. Hope you have fun trying this tut.

With retro effects such as lomo, vintage, diana and chrome becoming increasingly popular its probably a good idea to see how you can manipulate your photos in that way. In this tutorial we will follow a handful of easy steps (promise!) to turn a conventional photograph into a lomo piece of art!

We will use a rather plain photograph that will make the end result even more noticeable.

Next we will start creating a series of layers that will give us the lomo effect. First layer we will need is an Adjustment layer and more specifically a Curves one. Just click on layers and on the drop down menu follow Adjustment->Curves as shown below.

The Curves layer will bring forward the Curves dialogue window, where you can play around with the colors axes. We will work with the input and the output of the RGB, the Green and the Blue colors. This will adjust the density of the chosen colors and will start our picture resembling a lomo effect.

On the RGB and Green we will increase the input and reduce the output and we will do the opposite with the Blue. The images below will give you a good idea of how you want to adjust the axes of the Curves layer.

You can already start noticing the retro-ish impact on your photograph. We will continue our tutorial with another layer. This time we will use a Gradient map layer. The way to do this is the same, Layers and Gradient Map, shown below for your convenience.

Once done so, the Gradient Map dialogue box will be brought forward, which is preset in Black and White and which is exactly how we want it to be. Next click on the layers tab and set the lighting mood to Overlay, thats the first drop down menu on top and then lower the opacity, do this to your liking. We will use a 40% opacity in this case but this is more of a rule of thumb case.

If you want to perfect your lomo photo you can give it a tunnel vision effect. For this we will need another layer. This layer needs to have Black as a foreground color which we will then feather to give us the tunnel effect.
To do this create a new layer and having chosen Black then choose Edit and Fill from your top navigation bar.
This will bring up the Fill dialogue box. Hit OK.

Next choose your Rectangular Marquee Tool and draw a Rectangle in your black layer, not too large, it has to big a bit larger than the main object of your picture.

Once you are done drawing your rectangle, reach for your Feather tool. You will find that if you click: Edit->Modify->Feather. This will bring up the Feather tool dialogue box. Next we will set the Radius, this has to be related to the size of your picture, play around with the radius to see what works best for you. We used a radius of 50 pixels. This will black-out the peripheral area of the picture and leave the main object into focus with a black halo effect, which will be the tunnel vision. If this sounds too complex, dont worry, it is not. Just experiment with the radius and once you get it right you will know it.

Hit OK. If the picture comes up too blackened, simply reduce the Opacity a bit.
The result is an astonishing lomo effect!

For sure you have seen the Andy Warhol art post-cards that come on all sorts of versions, and for sure you would love to have your own personalized version of them. Great thing that you found this tutorial then. Lets see how you can turn an ordinary picture into art with a couple of photoshop brushes.

First we will open our image on photoshop and to glam things up we will use Marilyn.

Then we will prepare our picture to accept the quintessential Warhol colors by messing around with the Brightness Contrast, which will give our picture a polarized effect. You will find the Brightness Contrast window on your top navigation bar, Image->Adjustments->Brightness Contrast. When you click it you will get a dialogue window. On that scroll the Contrast cursor all the way to 100, hit OK. You image just got more interesting.

Next we will play with Layers. Go to the top bar and choose Layers->Adjustment Layers->Posterize as shown below and name it. With this you are done with the procedural stuff, time now to get creative and bring the real Warhol out!

Now create a new layer and name it. From the layer drop down menu choose the following: Layer->Layer Style->Blending Options->Multiply. This is extremely important as it will allow you to roughly paint each of the layers (hair, skin etc) without really caring about outlines. Really really handy!

Next reach out for your brush, normal brush will do and for the hair we will use a bright yellow to “pop out” our portait.

We will repeat the above process in the exact same way for Marilyn’s skin and dress, each time using a different pop color.

Finish it off with a few extra brushes where you missed a spot and Warhol would be proud of that one!

Nose job, nose nip tuck, nose enhancement, you can call it however you like, the truth remains, quite a few people out there are not happy with their noses. On today’s tutorial we will see how you can play around with the width and the length of your nose, blood-swelling-risk free.
For this tutorial we will use the laso tool and free transform mainly so its a rather straight forward technique. What is important to remember is that you are aiming for a subtle effect. Any too radical change will make the end result look fake
So lets go into the specifics.

Step 1. Open you picture on your photoshop. We will use a famous nose for ours; that of Barbra Streisand.

Step 2. At this point you need to think a bit like a plastic surgeon. What we can do with Barbra Streisand’s nose is to make look not as long as well as not so wide. So decide beforehand how you want to interfere.

Step 3. Reach out for your lasso tool on the left hand sidebar. The normal lasso tool will do.

Step 4. With your lasso tool selected start drawing around the nose losely. Dont try to draw the exact nose line, its fine if you choose a wider area round the nose.

Step 5. From your top selections bar choose Select->Modify->Feather

Step 6. Choose your layers palette and hit ctrl+J . This will create a layer with the area you outlined with your lasso tool.

Step 7. Choose the nose layer. If the nose area you see is too small or there is some “nose” missing, then reduce the feather tool radius by a few pixels. You should be seeing the entire nose and some surrounding area.

Step 8. Once you are happy with the selected nose area, hit the shortcut for the Free Transform tool, this is Ctrl+T .Alternatively you can find it under the Edit button.

Step 9. What you can do here is move the edges for the Transform tool frame to adjust the length, width and overall size of the nose. If you hold down the ALT key you can move both opposite axises (top-bottom/left-right).

Step 10. Like said in the beginning you want to achieve a subtle result, which in Transform Tool terms means that the percentages on top W and H (for width and height) must never be lower than 90%, ideally it would hover between 95%-100% which reflects how big a change you have done.

Step 11. In our case a 95% seems to be doing the trick and the result.

<g:plusone href="http://www.photoshopinstructions.com/how-to-get-a-digital-nose-job/"></g:plusone>

By now, we know that photo editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop can be used to manipulate photos and make people look “good”. Have you ever wished that you could look thin whenever you look at your photos? If you ever wished for a miracle, this tutorial is here to help you. In this step-by-step guide, we’ll explain how to make someone look thin using Photoshop.

Step-by-step tutorial:

1. First, open the picture you want to modify. Go to File -> Open and then choose the photograph.

2. Then, go to Filter menu and select Liquify.

3. A separate window will be opened for performing the Liquify effect.

4. In the new window, select the “Freeze Tool” for freezing the areas of the photograph that you do not want to make thin. As an example; the head is an area that we do not wish to make thin. Therefore, the background and the head area will be frozen using Freeze Tool.

Once the areas that do not need to be touched are marked, they will be highlighted in red. You can use different brush sizes (select from the right panel) carefully selecting the areas you do not want to be retouched. If you want to magnify the image for better visibility, press “ctrl and +”. Now, we’ll start with the body areas that are not highlighted in red and make them slightly thinner.

5. Now that you’ve got the parts that you do not want touched; go to the “Wrap Tool” located in the toolbar.

6. Make the brush size bigger, about 125 will be the ideal. Now touch the edges of the body area with the selected brush to make them look thin. For touching up the fine areas, simply use a smaller sized brush. Carefully touch the edges of the area while making sure they do not look abnormal or out of shape. Once you are done with thinning the body area, you’ll get an image similar to the one below. The cleared areas are the areas that have become thin.

7. Once you are done with the thinning, click OK in the right panel to go back to the image’s main window.

8. Save the thinned image and compare it with the old one. You will instantly see the difference between the two — differences such as the ones shown below are not uncommon.

Final words on making someone look thin using Photoshop

Making someone look “good” with Adobe Photoshop is just a couple of minutes away and it is as easy as this mini-guide illustrates. You can make anyone look thin with a few clicks of your mouse but do remember that your creativity and artistic ability needs to be used when attending to the task. So go on and make people look slim and beautiful!Once done you may want to go a step further by doing some body reshaping.

In this one we will see how to get a super cool effect combining several elements and is fairly simple to achieve too.
// -->

Step 1
First we need to create a new canvas with black background. The following settings are recommended:

Step 2
Create your type mask text using the Horizontal Type Mask tool as shown in the picture below:

Using the Horizontal Type Mask tool pick an area where you want your title to appear and type away.

Step 3
Using the Fill tool, fill the inside of your letters with white colour.

Step 4
Next pick the Smudge tool and smudge the edges of your text. For this pick a big brush area around 35cm diameter.

Step 5
Next step is to colourize your text. Bring up the Color Balance dialogue menu from the bottom right bar of your PS, and play around with the Shadows, the Midtones and Highlights as shown and hit OK. This will give you the burning effect.

Step 6
Moving on we will add some Gaussian Blur effect. Simply go to the Filter menu from the top toolbar, hit Blur and then Gaussian Blur and OK.

Step 7
To create the Neon effect you will need to duplicate your image and choose Linear Dodge on the copied layer. This will give the outline of your layer a neon like fluorescent look.

Step 8
Using the Horizontal Type Tool this time we will create another text layer to fill in the Neon fonts we created in the previous step. Choose the same font size and type the same word/words with your original text and overlay the new layer on top of your original one.

Step 9
Finally we will add the glow to our text. Double click on the layer of your Neon object and scroll down to “Outer Glow”. Change the glow color to a red glow. Your Burning Neon Effect is complete!

Adding Spiral Beams around your objects really gives a 3D sense to your objects. We will see on this tutorial how you can add these beams around any object you may want to give depth to using Photoshop CS4.
Adding Spiral Beams around your objects really gives a 3D sense to your objects. We will see on this tutorial how you can add these beams around any object you may want to give depth to using Photoshop CS4. For the purposes of this tutorial we suggest using a 3D object like this sphere but any object would do.

1. The first thing we want to do is create a new layer.

2. Next we will open our path’s panel and choose the ellipse tool. Once you pick the ellipse tool go to the tool’s options bar on the top toolbar and click on the middle icon named Path, you can easily identify it by hovering over with your cursor on the icons of the toolbar. This will turn your cursor into a little pen tool. With this tool chosen draw a very thin wide oval near the base of your object.

3. Next we need to choose our direct selection tool. This is placed usually just over the ellipse tool, on the lower portion of the tools toolbar and is marked with a black arrow. Click on it and select the path of the oval object you just designed, this will bring up 4 anchors. We want to add 2 more anchors to these, so we will go to the Pen tool and from the available tools choose the add anchor tool. Click on it and create 2 extra anchors just on the edges of your object on the areas highlighted.

4. Once we have all 6 anchors set, we will go back to the direct selection tool and we will choose the anchors that would stand lie behind our object and delete them. This will give us a flat C running around in the front side of our object.

5. Next we will grab this path and move it down to the new path button. This is placed on the bottom toolbar of the paths panel. Once done right click on it and duplicate that path. We will now edit the duplicate path we just created. We will select the path that runs on the left side of our object and delete it.

6. Next we will grab our brush tool, which is placed on the top side of the tools toolbar.
Click on it and go to brush options, we will set the brush diameter to 7pxls and set hardness to 100%. Next click on the brush options dialogue box, which is placed just on top of the paths panel you have running and turn shape dynamics ON.

7. Next right click on the duplicate path and select stroke path. Choose brush and simulate pressure. This will create a beam that whirls around the object.

8. Now we will switch to the original path and again on the path selection tool. Select the paths of the swirl we created before, hold down the shift key and hit the upper arrow key a few times so the path will move upwards. Once done we will replicate the stroke path steps as described on step 7. This will create another swirl. Repeat this until you get the desired number of swirls.

9. Finally we want to give our swirls an angle. For this go back to the Layers mode, remember we were working on the paths mode until now, and select the swirls layer. Right click on it after you select it and select skew and give your swirls an angle by pulling the top right corner a bit up and the bottom left down, which will give them a cool moving effect.

In this tutorial we will show you how to enlarge breasts on photoshop.

We will start off by enlarging the breasts and for this we will use the Liquify dialogue box and from this we will choose the Bloat tool. Once you have the Bloat Tool selected you will need to adjust the brush settings, we will go for a rather big brush size in this case around 400. Set the brush density pretty high as well whereas the brush height is up to your liking. Once you have your brush settings done click and hold around the area you want to enhance. Click OK to accept the changes.

Now that we have enlarged the breasts we will give them some depth by using the Burn tool. Choose the burn tool from the left sidebar and at the top at the settings select midtones and set the exposure at 20%. On Photoshop CS4 check off the protect tones.

Once done that go to the cleavage area and burn the area there slightly. Finally take the Dodge tool select midtones and exposure again around 20% and paint right next to the area you burnt before to lighten it up and add more depth, until you get the desired effect.

There are often cases when the image on your photo could use some teeth whitening. To do this you need firstly to zoom in to your model’s teeth and grab the Laso tool from your photoshop toolbar.

With laso tool selected start drawing the outline of the teeth. Use the shift key to correct the parts of the teeth you have missed and expand the selection. When your selection is ready zoom out and hit ctrl+alt+D, this will open the Feather Selection dialogue box, and choose to feather this by 1 pixel. This way you will avoid the rough edges on your selection.

In order to whiten the teeth select the Curves Adjustment Layer, on the diagram that will open put your pointer in the middle and the input about 135 and the output to 132. So using the laso, then feathering the selection and using the curves adjustment layer is a quick way to whiten the teeth on the models of your images.

Also, check out how to make digital cosmetic surgery. Remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
