You know those color changing contact lenses right? Well before you go out and buy a pair have a take on photoshop and see what eye color suits you best. Lets see how you can do this in simple steps.

Step 1. Open your image on your editor, we will use a random picture from the internet for this tutorial.

Step 2. Go to Add a New Layer from the top navigation bar.

Step 3. On the Layers options change the first drop down menu from Normal to Color.

Step 4. From your tool bar on the left choose the normal Brush Tool.

Step 5. On the bottom of your tool bar and with the brush tool chosen go to the color picker tool. Choose a color, any color, except for black or white.

Step 6. Zoom in the eye of your picture, and start brushing the iris of the eye (thats the colored part) , gradually cover the entire colored area of the eye.

Step 7.From the top bar of your editor choose: Adjustments->Hue->Saturation .This will bring up the dialogue box as shown below, on the top right corner of that box there is a radio button called “Colorize” . Check it.

Step 8.By scrolling the Hue/Saturation/Lightness bars you can edit the new color of your eyes just the way you want it. When happy hit OK and done!

Getting the occasional white hair, maybe you have already turned into Santa?Maybe you simply want to experiment around with your hair color but not on the field?
For all the above we will see step-by-step how to get there.

Step 1. Open your picture on photoshop. We will use a rather dull one (hair-wise) to make the effect more obvious.

Step 2. Use the lasso tool to select the hair area. This is probably the most time consuming step of this tutorial, so take your time to get it right! Zoom in the hair area using the magnifying glass and bit by bit select the hair area. In the end you should end up with a dotted line halo effect like this.

Step 3. We will now create a “fill layer” on our selected area, that we will fill with color, which will basically be the new hair color of our choice. So on your top nav bar choose Layer->New Fill Layer -> Solid Color and hit OK.

Step 4. You will be presented with a color picker window. Slide the intensity bar on top so you can get a solid color. Notice how the hair color changes in the background.

Step 5. We will choose a deep orange color which for the time being will look pretty horrible, but thankfully we are not done yet.

Step 6. On top of your layers you will see the blending mode for your “fill layer”, this is set by default to normal that basically masks the entire original layer. We will set this to soft light mode. Just click on the drop down menu and choose Soft Light mode.

Step 7. This will result in your “Fill Layer” blending with the original hair color quite convincingly. You may find the color still a bit too strong, but no worries you can adjust this by double clicking on your fill layer. This will pop the color picker window and you can simply play around with the light and intensity slider.

Step. 8 Finally play around a bit with opacity to give you an even more natural effect.

And here you go with your final result. All wholesome all natural and risk free! Enjoy!
